Return to The logic of TTG
“Light”
is the root of all photography
“Which manipulations can be done to a TTG photograph” is largely determined by whether they are “light”-related or not.
How TTG uses the behavior of light to “draw the line” on manipulation:
• After a photo is taken, its “light”-related parts (tones and colors) must be corrected when they misrepresent the appearance of the scene (as per P7).
• But after a photo is taken, the non-“light” related parts (forms and shapes) cannot be changed except in a very few select ways — not even to make the photo “look more like” the scene depicted (as per P2).
For much more on this, see the brief on light.
