805. Why is downsizing allowed but not upsizing?

Downsizing is allowed because it is routine in the news industry,* on whose standards TTG is based.
Upsizing, on the other hand, is not allowed because it is increasingly performed using AIFI, which disqualifies any image from P1.
While upsizing processes were available for years before AIFI debuted, non-AIFI upsizing will become increasingly rare in the future.
Since upsizing a photograph is more likely to diminish than enhance the photograph's trustworthiness, there is no need for TTG to make provision for upsized photographs.
*For example, photographs that were recorded by a news photographer with a 24mp camera (6000 x 4000 pixels) are not usually put before the public in trusted news settings without downsizing the photographs first.
