online photo commentator (OPC)
including ‘vlogger’ and ‘blogger

The term “online photo commentator” is used on this website to describe

“viewers with the time, interest, and energy to look into credibility-related claims being made or implied about a particular photograph, the findings from which they then share online.”

The OPC could share their observations through an online article, through a vlog, through a blog, or through any other online means (although podcasts may not be ideal for photographic commentary).

What’s the story?

Over the years numerous photo-manipulation controversies have been brought to the public’s attention by OPCs who noticed things about published photographs that no one else had publicly pointed out.

That trend is likely to continue, as the general public is unlikely to scrutinize photographs as closely as an OPC might.

(As noted on the About page, there is never any overseeing organization or “watchdog” group to check photographers’ TTG-related claims.)

While OPCs do not have an official role with TTG, the TTG label is based on accountability to the viewing public, and OPCs often serve as more vigilant eyes for the general populace.

It will be relatively easy for OPCs to become experts at TTG simply by reading this website.
