a photograph
(noun)
The definition of a “photograph” is a topic of much discussion these days, as AIFI makes inroads in visual imaging and photography.
There still seems to be a consensus, however, that a “photograph” involves the capturing of “light.”
The word photo+graphy is from the Greek for light+writing, and “light” has always played an important role in photography — and in TTG.
Almost any commonly recognized definition of the noun “photograph” that involves the capturing of light will suffice when describing the kinds of images to be held up against the Trust Test.
Of course, not everything called a “photograph” as defined by every definition will qualify as TTG. (That’s the reason for having a standard; see #428.)
In other words, many types of images that are regarded as “photographs” may be disqualified by one or another requirement of the Trust Test — but that disqualification by TTG does not make those images something other than “a photograph” (see #1104).
