SMP effects

1. The presence of “Stroboscopic Motion Photography” effects always disqualifies a photograph from P4 (because the photo is then depicting more than “one scene”).

2. There are two primary ways that SMP effects are created:

A. Using successive bursts of light (made by “strobes”) to illuminate different arrangements of the subject during an exposure.

B. Combining multiple exposures, each of which depicts some variance in the scene.

3. TTG’s disqualification of SMP effects applies regardless of how the effect is produced: in-camera (smartphones can be susceptible to creating SMP effects in some situations); with digital or with film “double exposures”; on a computer; in the darkroom; or any other way.
