view

The term “view” is used on this website to refer to what the camera “sees” during the exposure used to make a photograph.

Thus — as with the terms “scene” and “what the camera lens saw” — the term “view” involves not just place but also time.

The “view” is determined by

• the location of the camera;

• the direction the camera is pointed; and

• the angle of view, focal length, aperture, and focus settings of the lens used.

P3 ensures that every TTG-qualified photograph depicts “one view” (as per Characteristic #3).
