More on FAQ #114

“There are 3 main categories of images that look like undoctored photographs but are not”

1. Doctored photos — This category covers all photographs, past and present, that are doctored (whether in the darkroom, on a smartphone, or on a computer with a program like Photoshop) without using AIFI.

2. “Aigmented” photos — These are camera- or smartphone-created photos that are augmented with the addition of AIFI-created items that were not in the scene at the moment the picture was taken.

3. Photo-like AI-fabricated images (“plaifis”) — These are images that look like photographs but are created entirely using AIFI, without the use of a camera.

There are of course numerous other kinds of images that meet the description at the top of this page — e.g., photorealistic artworks, screenshots of non-TTG images, etc. — but none of them approach the scale of the three categories described above.
