“Since it is impossible to put a precise numerical limit on long exposures or combined exposures...

. . . to prevent misrepresentation, P4 reins in the effects of combined or long exposures.

These four conditions are in the last paragraph of P4:

Ghost objects and SMP effects are barred by P4 because they both prevent the resulting image from looking like a single-exposure, undoctored photograph.

• P4’s satode requirement ensures that no MORE is shown in the photograph than would be in seen in a momentary “glimpse” or “snapshot” of the scene.

• P4’s sasibe requirement ensures that no LESS is shown in the photograph than would be in seen in a momentary “glimpse” or “snapshot” of the scene.

Note that panning and motion blur are allowed by P4, because cameras do not see the same way the human eye sees, and neither effect keeps the image from looking like a single-exposure, undoctored photograph.
